Description

The "Stay Connected" program is a structured intervention designed to address social isolation, loneliness, and mild mental health symptoms among older adults. Developed initially in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the program focuses on teaching evidence-based strategies such as behavioral activation, stress management, and anxiety reduction. It empowers non-clinical staff to provide low-intensity psychological interventions to promote emotional well-being.

Target Audience

This training is intended for non-clinical staff, healthcare providers, and caregivers working with community-dwelling older adults experiencing loneliness or mild mental health challenges.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this training, you will be able to:

  1. Conduct structured wellness calls to assess and address the needs of older adults.
  2. Apply behavioral activation strategies to help clients re-engage in meaningful activities.
  3. Use validated tools such as the PHQ-9, GAD-7, and UCLA Loneliness Scale to assess mental health symptoms.
  4. Tailor interventions to the unique needs of clients, including managing stress and enhancing social connections.
