By the end of this activity, attendees should have achieved the following learning outcomes:

    • Understand the key differences in the etiology, pathophysiology, and management of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
    • Recognize the concept of pre-diabetes as an intermediate stage between normal glucose metabolism and diabetes.
  2. Discuss the importance of controlling blood glucose through healthy lifestyle activities including physical activity and meal planning:

    • Understand the significance of blood glucose control in diabetes management and prevention of complications.
    • Discuss the role of physical activity in improving insulin sensitivity, glucose regulation, and overall diabetes management.
    • Explain the importance of meal planning, including balanced nutrition, portion control, and carbohydrate counting, in managing blood glucose levels.
  3. Explain the roles that CHWs can play in diabetes management and type 2 diabetes prevention:
