Full course description

Description

This training explores the distinctions between baby blues, postpartum depression (PPD), and other postpartum mental health conditions. Baby blues, affecting up to 80% of new mothers, are short-term mood swings related to hormonal changes, exhaustion, and the adjustment to new motherhood. In contrast, postpartum depression is a serious condition affecting 15-20% of mothers, characterized by prolonged sadness, anxiety, and fears that worsen over time. Other conditions like postpartum OCD and psychosis, though less common, present specific risks requiring immediate intervention. The training highlights the importance of timely identification, support, and treatment options, including therapy and medication.
