Description
This training addresses the increasing prevalence of substance use disorders (SUDs), including alcohol and opioid use, among older adults. It explores risk factors, protective factors, and common barriers to care. The session also focuses on screening tools, diagnostic criteria, and evidence-based treatment options, such as counseling, mutual support groups, and pharmacotherapy. Special considerations, including the overlap of chronic pain and opioid use disorder, are discussed to enhance care strategies for older adults.
